It's Tuesday and already has been a busy week at Red Hat.
xPaas
At the last JavaOne in Oct 2013, Red Hat announced a strategy around 'xPaaS'. What is xPaaS? xPaaS is a strategy around provide Mobile Backend as a Service (mBaaS), an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaas) and Business Process Management as a Service (BPMPaas). Red Hat has already provided a unified push server that abstracts away the specifics of Google Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification via AeroGear. Today I'm happy to announce that Red Hat has crossed another important milestone in its strategy with iPaaS. As of today, you are now able to use Fuse on OpenShift.
BPM a Reality
Today Red Hat has also announced the launch of the Red Hat JBoss Business Process Management Suite 6 (BPMS). This is a very long title for a very simple idea. BPMS makes it easy to make your business more agile while gaining better insight. The idea is that businesses constantly need to update business processes and rules in order to adapt to a ever changing environment. Done traditionally, this is where the most churn is within your source code. BPMS allows developers to extract this code and expose the logic directly to the domain experts. There are also some very cool ways to monitor business activities within the product. I cannot wait to see this process-modeler supported in the cloud.
DevNation picks up some Big Names
This is the inaugural year for DevNation and we've gotten a great response from the industry and attendees. Everyone seems to want to participate in an open source developer / dev-ops event. I could not be more thrilled.
Last year Red Hat acquired FuseSource - the open source company that pioneers Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Karaf and many other projects. We've found a way to keep the spirit of CamelOne alive within DevNation. I don't want to give away too much but if you look at the agenda after March 5, I'm sure you will be delighted if you are a Fuse faithful. There are additional surprises with DevNation coming soon...
