JBoss.org Enters the Next Era - Welcome JBoss Developer

So it's been a busy week, month and year....  My team quietly launched JBoss Developer this week.  It's a major milestone in a never-ending quest to provide you, the developer, with a better and more productive experience.  JBoss.org has long been the go-to for downloads and help related to the JBoss family of technologies, and Wednesday we rolled out a complete overhaul of this site with exciting new design, structure, and content.  Some features you will notice:

Product and projects are both represented

You will notice that jboss.org has both downloads for upstream projects and for developer-use only products.  Many people are not versed in how JBoss distinguishes the two so we've done our best to explain in text and video.

Developers can get access to product without paying hard-earned money

As part of the Red Hat JBoss Developer program, you can get access to the enterprise products with a $0 subscription.

A Ton of new Developer Materials

You'll find hundreds of quickstarts, articles, videos, tutorials, Maven BOMs  and more:

Upstream projects highlighted everywhere

We've gotten most but not all of the projects JBoss participates in an index.  We're hoping to finish the remainder in the next month.

Upgraded Blog aggregator planet.jboss.org

The team spent a ton of time consolidating our awesome communities' blogs into a centralized location.  If you want to know what's going on with JBoss, planet.jboss.org is a fantastic resource.

Product / Project relationships called out clearly

Over the years I've answered the same questions again and again and again.  What products map to which projects?  What versions are they?  Is there much difference?  Are you going to support feature X, Y or Z?  The team has done a great job of making the relationships as clear as possible on each product page.

Now Mobile friendly!

The new jboss.org has been designed from the bottom up to be completely mobile friendly.  Use your android phone, iPhone or tablet and have a great experience.

Updated Buzz and social media walls

The first iteration has blog posts.  Stay tuned to see Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc being added shortly.

Updated Events Section

The events section still needs a bit of love but you'll easily find where JBoss is participating.  You'll be able to propose events and add your own in the near future.

Updated Books Section

Like dead trees?  This is a great spot to find all resources regarding JBoss about them.

Streamlined Download Sections

Need the latest and greatest?  Just go to jboss.org/downloads

Looking for specific versions or additional libraries?  We've got that covered too.

New Getting Started section

Never worked with JBoss or want to start picking it up?  There's a section for that now.

Why Subscribe section

Need help convincing your boss to purchase a subscription?  The site provides some material for you.  We're working to make this even more compelling without turning it into marketing gobledy-gook. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Not in Love with the Look & Feel?

Not to worry!  You find we'll be updating the theme regularly.  Below are a few examples:

More Updates Coming Soon!

The team is far from calling the new site complete.  You'll see some new surprises in the near future.  In the meantime please let us know how we can improve your experience.  Feel like you want to contribute content, or to it's construction?  Please reach out.

Thanks,
Ray
